Frequently Asked Dental Questions
It’s no secret that dentistry is a complex subject with many different services to offer. While this can be extremely convenient for many, it can also be quite confusing for others. It only complicates the process of determining which treatment is right for them. Below, we’ve included a basic section dedicated to answering a few of our most commonly asked questions at Lowes Island Dentistry. If you have other questions that are not listed, we encourage you to give us a call directly.
My tooth is damaged. How should I repair it?
Depending on the extent of your damage, we have multiple options for properly restoring it to its original luster. For example, our dental office provides tooth-colored fillings to restore the tooth without sacrificing your appearance. However, more severe damage may require a crown as well as root canal therapy if an infection exists. We also offer CEREC crowns, which means you can get it restored in just one appointment.
How should I straighten my teeth?
There are multiple ways to straighten teeth at Lowes Island Dentistry. Not only do we provide traditional metal braces for more severe cases, but we also offer two different kinds of clear aligners. This includes aligners from both Sirona and Invisalign. After a detailed examination of your smile and bite, we’ll offer a recommendation that most effectively addresses your needs. Keep in mind that clear aligners are more ideal for mild to moderate misalignment cases.
Should I visit for a dental emergency?
If you notice your tooth is in pain and it does not go away, you should give our dental office a call right away. You should also attend if your tooth is fractured, chipped, knocked-out or if you experience oral swelling. If your restoration has been displaced or lost, you’ll need to have it replaced. Alternatively, if your jaw is broken or you’re mouth is severely bleeding with no signs of stopping, we encourage you to go to the emergency room first, then visit our dental office.
Do you take my insurance plan?
We are in-network with most major insurance providers, so it’s very likely that you’ll be able to take advantage of savings via your benefits. Our dental office is happy to accept claims and file them on your behalf. If we are not in-network with your insurance, we’ll do everything we can to help you maximize savings on your dental care. We also encourage you to look into our in-house dental savings plan and third-party financing companies we work with like CareCredit.
Can you treat my gum disease?
Not only can we treat your gum disease, but we are likely better equipped to do so than most other dentists in the area. This is because we offer both soft tissue laser therapy as well as perform the Chao Pinhole Technique. Both act as less invasive methods to reduce the symptoms of your gum disease, ideally in a far more comfortable way.
How should I replace missing teeth?
There are many ways to replace teeth, but we often recommend dental implants thanks to their long-term functionality and appearance. Not only do they look incredibly natural once they are placed, but they feel natural when in use. Of course, we also offer traditional bridges and dentures, but these options can easily be designed to work with dental implants as well to make them more secure.
Can you improve my smile’s appearance?
Absolutely! We have multiple solutions to get your smile looking exactly the way you want it to. Whether it’s through quick and straightforward whitening treatments from Zoom!, comprehensive porcelain veneers, or affordable and effective cosmetic bonding, we’re happy to help you decide which treatment (or treatments) will most effectively restore your smile.
