The Zoom in-office whitening procedure uses the professional Zoom whitening solution and method in just over an hour to brighten your smile. In addition to the in-office treatment, patients receive custom whiting trays to be used with a follow-up solution. Even better? Zoom patients are automatically enrolled in our “whitening for life” program
How It Works
After scheduling an appointment at Lowes Island Dentistry, the dentist will welcome you back into a comfortable chair for the brief procedure, which typically takes less than an hour. We recommend a regular teeth cleaning is performed prior to Zoom whitening for maximum results.
We first protect the lips and gums, as these are more sensitive to the hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. With just the teeth exposed, the dentist will apply the gel evenly over the teeth. A powerful light is then used to activate the solution and break up the stains or discoloration of enamel and dentin. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes at a time for a total of three sessions – but don’t worry: we have a television to help you kick back and relax.
Afterward, we apply a sensitivity-reducing fluoride gel to help reduce any discomfort from the intense teeth whitening procedure, and we recommend you follow-up by using a toothpaste formulated to combat sensitivity.
Many whitening procedures, including Zoom teeth whitening, cause tooth sensitivity during and after treatment. Ask us about anti-sensitivity toothpaste prior to treatment to lessen these effects.
Keeping Your Smile White
It’s important to recognize the healthy behaviors and habits that you can adopt to keep your smile looking its whitest. Avoid tea, coffee, red wine, cola, and other beverages that contribute to staining, as well as tobacco products. Brush twice a day or after each meal and keep regular cleanings and check-ups scheduled at Lowes Island!
