There are many teeth whitening systems and products including whitening toothpastes, over-the-counter gels, rinses, strips, trays, and whitening products obtained from a dentist.
Teeth whitening is ideal for people who have healthy teeth and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best. Whitening products including hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which cause a chemical reaction that breaks apart the carbon bonds that create yellow stains. Once the bonds are broken, they no longer reflect a yellow color.

Four Whitening Options At Lowes Island Dentistry:

Option 1: Zoom in office whitening

At Lowes Island Dentistry we recommend avoiding temporary tooth sensitivity, especially to cold, during or after the whitening procedure by the use of Sensodyne ProEnamel / Sonicare Fluoridex desensitizer toothpaste for two weeks before the procedure (5% potassium nitrate) 10 days’ prior to Zoom whitening use.
The WhiteSpeed lamp is used near your teeth to accelerate the whitening process with Zoom Whitening. The procedure consists of up to four sessions each lasting 15 minutes. For each session, the whitening gel will be replaced by a new coating.
While the four 15 minute Zoom Wjitening sessions are being completed, one of our team members will make the custom bleach trays for the patient. These customized trays allow you to safely TOUCH UP your whitened teeth over the years for the best dazzling white result. When using these customized trays only use a very small drop of the bleaching material in the tube you received from our office in a very thin coat. Too much material will cause a burning sensation around the gums as it will overflow onto the gums. The patient will receive a take home whitening gel and a relief gel for sensitivity with the custom trays. These gels should be kept refrigerated to extend their life span.
Patient can touch up every 3 years’ dependent on lifestyle how much tea, coffee staining foods they consume.

Option 2: Home kit bleaching trays 35%

Take Home Whitening involves taking alginate impressions for trays. Patient returns once trays made to check the fit of the custom trays and delivery them with 2 Opalescence syringes. Patient wear tray for at least 30 mins every day over 14 days depending on sensitivity.

Option3: Patient uses own Invisalign trays just provide whitening tubes
Must use Opalescence PF bleach 35%. Only use these products with these trays because the consistency is thicker not runnier than other whitening products. If not right consistency it will run not stay in tray irritate gums.

Option 4: Opalescence to Go 15%

Better than Crest Whitening preformed arch wear 30 mins after cleaning. 3.6% (wear 60–90 minutes for 5 to 10 days), 10% (wear 30–60 minutes for 5 to 10 days), and 15% (wear 15–20 minutes for 5 to 10 days)
